INDUSTRIAL FANS AND BLOWERS

Wesman's blowers utilize the best concepts in centrifugal machinery design, combined with the latest manufacturing technology to minimize cost while retaining the sturdiness and ease of maintenance for which Wesman is known.

Our standard blower models are available in multiple discharge positions with options for direct, v-belt or coupling drive units. Optional accessories includes pulleys, belt guards, motor slide rails, inlet air damper, outlet air damper, anti-vibration pads, inlet air filters, access doors and transition pieces.

Wesman maintains strict quality procedure in design, manufacturing and testing of its products. The centrifugal fan is the heart of any thermal system. If the Fan does not deliver the required pressure and volume then the combustion can be incomplete. This will cause un-burnt fuel particles to escape along with flue gases. The consequence will be enhanced pollution and increase in operating cost of the plant. Wesman designs and manufactures fans for a wide range of pressure, direction of discharge and power to suit our customer's requirements. Many of the blowers in varying capacities are available in standard specifications. However, Wesman specializes in offering one-off tailor made designs as well to suit our customer's specifications. Fans are manufactured with different impeller configurations as per the application requirements.

CONFIGURATION OF IMPELLER BLADES

Based on the application, Wesman designs and manufactures impellers with the following blade configurations:
• STRAIGHT BLADE
• BACKWARD CURVED
• FORWARD CURVED

STRAIGHT BLADE IMPELLER

With this type of impeller, the blade is straight. The impeller design is simple. Fans will have 50 – 75% efficiency. This can be used for high pressure / low volume applications. It is more suitable for dust laden atmospheres. However, the fans generate more noise, vibration and shows rising power requirements with volume.

BACKWARD CURVED IMPELLER

With this type of impeller, the curved blade meets at the outer diameter of the impeller in a drawn away position opposite to the direction of motion. The impeller has a load limiting capacity. The pressure generated by the fan automatically drops down when volume more than the design value is drawn from the blower . Accordingly, the overloading of the motor is avoided. These Fans will have higher efficiency (80% or more). These fans can be used for low pressure / high volume applications. It is typically used for a static pressure upto 20 inch (500 mm) water column.

FORWARD CURVED IMPELLER

With this type of impeller, the curved blade meets at the outer diameter of the impeller in a drawn in position in the direction of motion. The fans have relatively lower efficiency (60 – 70%). The impeller blades are smaller compared to backward curved blade but more in number and with higher curvature. The fans can operate at low speed and is less noisy while in operation.

LOW PRESSURE FAN

Wesman designs and manufactures centrifugal fans from 2 to 24 inches (50 to 600 mm) WC static pressure. The HP for these fans vary from 2 to 60 HP (1.5 to 45 KW).

HOT AIR FAN

Wesman designs and manufactures centrifugal fans for handling hot air upto 600 deg C. The casing and impellers are made of stainless steel.

COMBUSTION AIR BLOWER

Wesman designs and manufactures centrifugal fan from 26 to 60 inches (650 to 1500 mm) WC static pressure. The HP for these fans vary from 2 to 150 HP (1.5 to 110 KW).

MANUFACTURING

All the components such as impeller, casing, diffuser etc are manufactured with strict manufacturing norms. Quality control starts from the raw material stage and continues through out the process. Impellers are made from mild steel, stainless steel or boiler quality plates as per the application or custom requirement. Casings are made from mild steel or stainless steel. Both static and dynamic balancing is done for impellers. Stage inspection is carried out at various stages of manufacturing. After total assembly and final inspection all fans are tested in a test bed. The test bed is equipped with modern instruments for measurement of pressure, volume, power, etc. All data are simultaneously logged in the computer which is hooked up to a PLC/VVFD system. Through VVFD the fan under test can be run at different speeds to find out the performance of the fan at speeds other than its design speed. This is particularly necessary for high temperature applications. Vibration and noise levels are also checked through specific instruments. After acceptance of test results the fans are painted as per Wesman's paint scheme or customer's color request.

Various drive arrangement such as fans directly mounted on motor shaft, coupling drive, V- belt drive are on offering. Also various arrangements of clockwise / anti-clockwise discharge with custom direction are offered to suit site conditions.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Wesman blowers have been in use in the following areas (not exhaustive)
Aluminum melting & holding
• Steel plants
• Ferro- Alloys
• Sponge Iron plants
• Ceramic industries
• Ammonia recovery plants
• Biscuit/Tea/Food processing manufacturing

Wesman designs and manufactures centrifugal fans for handling hot air upto 6000C. The casing and impellers are made of stainless steel.

INLET FILTER WITH SILENCER

In dust laden areas, inlet filters are recommended so that the fan can suck clean air and discharge at elevated pressure. This will prevent undue clogging of various devices connected in the up-steam of the fan and reduce maintenance. Silencers can be provided to reduce the noise level of the blower. Wesman designs and manufactures inlet filters with silencers as per discharge of the fan.

MULTIVANE DAMPER

Multi-vane damper fitted at the inlet of the fan are used for smooth start up of the fan and pressure control during normal operations. These come with manual and automatic versions in various diameters for different capacities.

VIBRATION ISOLATOR

In order to reduce the vibration level at site the fan can be supplied with vibration isolators.

ACCOUSTIC CLADDING

In order to reduce the noise level of the fan substantially, acoustic cladding is recommended. This is done by wrapping the casing with suitable material such as glass wool etc. and finally cladding with aluminum foil.
